#394 Chocolate cream puff: recipe #222

I am a big fan of Oriental dramas namely Japanese, Koreans and Taiwanese. Titles and ratings of the dramas I watched so far are posted at the sidebar of this blog. Anyway, the latest drama I watched was Zettai Kareshi, portraying a story of a young lady who had purchased a robot lover. She was also a good baker. Her specialty wass the shu cream, Japanese cream puffs. So throughout the drama, I was watching the so-called "shu cream" which looked very yummy. After the torturing 11 episodes, watching her eating the cream puffs, I decided to bake some... since I have made the usual cream puffs before, I decided to make chocolate puffs instead... and here it is :)

For the pastry:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
2 tbsp sugar
1 cup water
1 cup flour sifted together with 2 tbsp dark coco powder.

- Boil butter, water and sugar in a milk pan.
- Add in the flour mixture all at once. Mix well, stir quickly.
- stop the heat.
- Add eggs slowly in the mixture and mix well.
-Pipe or spoon onto a baking pan
- bake at 180 degrees for about 20-25 minutes
- cool and fill with your preferred custard.

Filling:
Place 4 yolks , 1/2 cup sugar, 4 tbsp flour, 1/2 cup sugar, about 1/2 cup flour, 600ml milk and 1/2 cup chopped chocolate into a milk pan, put them to boil, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. cool the mixture before placing it into the puffs.

#393: PTEB NEW CAMPUS: PTE Meragang....

Some of us went to the handing of the new campus key to Our Principal, Mdm Chong Li Chen, on the 25th October 2008 . The newly built campus is very near to the Meragang Beach@crocodile beach at Muara, which about 50km drive from my house *sigh*. We are moving because our campus will be used by the secondary education section, for a new school, Sekolah Menengah Berakas II.

When exactly will we move? soon... but students will only move the earliest by end of November or latest next year.... so students ... don't feel excited just yet... concentrate on your Exams.

Back to the new campus... It has an open concept... huge and modern. I told my colleagues that I should wear sport shoes for teaching next year. I took a number of shots during the handing of keys. Click on the pictures for more pics I uploaded into my facebook's albums :) Enjoy the view.

#390: Adidarwish's Blueberry Cookies: recipe #221

Sometimes Darwish would have unusual cravings. This cookies for example was what he had requested on Friday. Every time he had something in his mind he would "hint" me with questions
Darwish: Blueberry cookies is it wiving thing or not wiving thing, mom?
Me : It's a non- living thing
Darwish ( a few minutes later): Blue berry cookies need butter?
Me ( lazily) : Yes
Darwish : Does a blueberry cookies need sugar?
Me: Yes
Darwish: Where you want to make the blueberry cookies, in a bowl or in a bowl?
( notice he did not give me any choice :) )
Me: Ok , Mummy will make you some...
and here ladies and gentlemen....Darwish's blue berry cookies.... created on the spot LOL!

Ingredients + methods
Preheat the oven at 180 C
cream 1/2 butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar until well mixed. Add in 1 egg, creamed till combined. Add 1 cup flour , a pinch of salt and a pinch of bicarbonate of soda. Add in 1 dsp blueberry paste. mix till combined.

Spoon the mixture using a teaspoon onto a baking tray. A large baking tray should only have 12 of the mixture . bake for about 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 140 C and bake until the cookies are crisp . Yum !
